"Kenape kene celebrate International Women's Day ye? Kenape asyik nak kene hargai perempuan je kenape takde International Men's Day?"

Firstly, I just google it and guys, International Men's Day exist! haha. there you go, don't complain.

Secondly, International Women's Day is not just a day to celebrate or appreciate women or a day to shower us with gift...not that I am complaining keep the appreciation coming :P but it is also a day for us to reflect, and remember that the fight for women's right is still far from over.

Now, when we say women's right or equality or feminism, some people view it as something negative. Saying that we are extremist trying to fight men and we're trying to push them out. Although I agree that some are indeed too extreme, the majority of us don't actually want to fight man.

I am a feminist and here is what feminism is to me:

Equality doesn't mean that we're seeking a world where everything is balance. I don't dream for every profession to have equal number of men and women. Feminism doesn't mean that I think women are the best and we are above men. I don't seek to be a queen and control my husband. It's delusional of me to think women are better at everything. I am a feminist and I still think men are better leaders and bosses.

Above all, it does not mean that I don't need men in my life. I do. Men play important part in feminism too. Imagine if Malala did not have her father to support her in everything she wants to do such as pursuing education and politics, she would never be the Malala that we know now.

What feminism means to me is for us to try to find a a way to co-exist, men and women, without anyone stepping on our rightful rights, as women...the right to work, the right to vote, the right for equal pay, the right to speak up, the right to go out, the right to drive, the right for education, the right to live and the right for protection. Some are not applicable to Malaysia because Malaysian organisations and companies are alhamdulillah not gender-bias. In that department, Malaysia is good.

However, we are still fighting for our right for protection. I even wrote an entry back in 2013 discussing about the same issue. We, women, have a right for protection, and you men, were supposed to protect us. Not catcalling, not rape, not kill, and not to abuse us. Until we get a world where no mother is condemn for giving birth to daughter when her husband/parent-in-law wants son, no wife is beaten by her husband, no grandfather/father/brother/friend rape a granddaughter/daughter/sister/friend and girl can walk freely on the street without men catcalling, this fight is still far from over.

In the name of humanity, of making the world a better place, men and women need to join forces to fix this problem...and that is what I think about feminism and why International Women's Day need to be celebrated....reminder of the fight for women's right.

Assalamualaikum

You know what I find hard to relate to? People with lots of energy.

If you're familiar with the term "girl crush", you would have known that not all girls fight each other all the time. We like each other too....some of which we like too much it become girl crush. I have girl crush on lots of girls. If for whatever reason you're so bored and you decided to see my instagram following list, you would notice that besides my friends and instashops (can't live without them), almost all are made out of girls. Some of whom my friends consider me a fanatic of since I make it a daily routine to check on their social media account before I finish my day. -_-

One of the things they all have in comment which btw I find it hard to relate to is; they all have so much energy to go out to socialize, almost every day! I mean, why go out on weekdays? Do you not get tired? How can someone has so much energy to have corporate job by day, a cafe owner by night and still can squeeze in some bonding time with friends?

I hardly schedule anything on weekdays. Even on weekends, I make plans only on Saturday because Sunday is a preparation for work day. Even with that, I sometime reject meet up session with friends for some me time -________- seriously, how much me time do you need girl? and what's surprising is that even with all those resting, I am still tired, all the time!

I just finish reading bunch of Alia's old blog post and I realise everyone is given exactly the same amount of time everyday and things she could do in 24 hours, are so much more that things I get done in a week. I can't blame my introvert side anymore. There's a line between a lazy person and an introvert and I just cross the border by becoming a lazy introvert.

GIRL CRUSH

Assalamualaikum

I know I know I promised to update on my cosmetic shopping experience in Seoul but you know, laziness kicking in. Soooo one year later, here we are :)

To tell you truth, I have a lot of expectation whenever I walk into a Skin Food shop because the sales girls that we have in Malaysia is so nice and friendly (except for the new Mid Valley and Sibu girl), I hoped for the same from its shop in its birth land.

Well, shame on me for having such a delusional expectation. Even people from the same family act differently why do I expect people work for the same company would behave similarly?

I told you I don't like Myeondong salesgirl right? Now, I will tell you where I have the best experience ever in shopping for Skin Food product.

Dongdaemun

I love it! The salesgirl is super friendly. Though she speak broken english, she answers every single question that we had diligently! Remember pigmentation that we ask around in Myeondong? It's no surprise that the Dongdaemun girl does not know what is it too, but it's on the way she handles it that makes her a lot better salesgirl than Myeongdong salesgirl.

She ask us what is it and we reply her with "dark, black" and she get it right away! See it's not that complicated! You just have to make effort. At least that day she go back home knowing that she learn a new thing.

I shop around Hongdae too but Dongdaemun girl Jjang! So if I have to rate the 4 stores (2 stores in Myeondong) that I went in Seoul

Dongdaemun > Hongdae > Myeondong

How about you?

Btw, I have been ask a lot if Skin Food really works and when I reply them "Yes" they always ask me back whether I have a sensitive skin or whether I had any problem to begin with. I admit, when it comes to skin, I've been blessed with a good one. I don't have any serious issue with it. The biggest pimple I ever had was during haze recently and that's it. However, I can tell you this, Skin Food is the only product that I can actually feel and see the difference with or without it. Before Skin Food, I don't even bother which skin care range I use because I use it cause I need it not that I love it.

I think people around me must have felt it too. So far, I have successfully converted my mum, Dik Yah, Ayu, Atin, Ajid (Ayu's brother) to a skinfodian. Hmmmm should I ask for a commission from skinfood?

I think it's similar to the dish detergent "Joy". Before we use it, we don't really bother which brand we use, but after we use it, we can't use others. Right?

You don't use "Joy"? Why not?

Things that are dangerous for busy Muslim women

WATERPROOF MAKEUP

While waterproof makeup itself are a-maaahhhyy-zing invention for its long lasting feature, it can be troublesome for us, Muslim women, on days when we can pray.

It’s waterproof.

So logically speaking, you need at least makeup remover to completely clean your face and prepare yourself for wudu’ which, from recent observation, I don’t think a lot of women care about. I’ve seen women coming out of wudu’ area with visible drops of oily-looking water (the kind you see when water meet waterproof material) on their face with their makeup still intake.

I was thinking why do I see this ONLY now, then I realise, nobody wears heavy makeup in BDO. Hah!

The obvious options are:

1. Diligently clean your face with makeup remover EVERYTIME you want to take wudu’
2. Don’t wear waterproof makeup when you can pray
3. Don’t wear makeup at all

I am definitely too lazy for option 1, and I am not confident enough for option 3…
 I’ll stick to option 2. :D

I hope this serves as a good reminder for you and me. peace!

Assalamualaikum

I am immune to Westlife already. It was awesome to listen to their old songs after all those years but after almost one year of listening to them everyday, I sort of muak already. Nowadays they are more of a lullaby than a mood booster. haha.

So I need a new playlist.

I don't know what happen....I typed Oprah. Oprah weeehhh Oprah! subconsciously. I think my body must have crave for motivational booster. So yeah, now I listen to her, everyday.

She's amazing, her guests are also amazing. Oh great. now I want to be like them. When Oprah says something wise and funny, I want to be a TV personality just like her. When she interviewed JK Rowling I suddenly want to be a writer. -______-

Please woman, be firm. Which one do you want sebenarnya?

***

You know when I was watching School 2015 and poop-head (sorry can't remember her name) told Ian,

must be great to have a dream

it kind of hits a little closer to home. I don't have a dream. Sad isn't it? I have been following the flow all these while. Wherever life takes me, I'll go.

Then Oprah mentioned,

'If you don't have a dream, if you don't know yet what you want to do, knowing what you don't want to do is the next best thing'

I know that! thank you Oprah! xoxo

Assalamualaikum.

Hi.

Over the past few years, my movie partners are either Ayu or Ain or Nana. With them, obviously, there is no need to observe the age restriction.

So when a ticket girl asked for our ID for 18SG film, I looked around,

oh...... I'm with Faiz and Dik Yah. Dik Yah freak out a little because month-wise, she's not 18 yet.

'ok Dik Yah, bye! Faiz ngn akak tgk movie jap. pandai2 lah jalan sendiri,'

so I took out my ID and showed it to the ticket girl.

'eh akak tunggu tepi ye'

and she extended her hand to Dik Yah's ID. Truth is, she ONLY wanted to see Dik Yah's ID.

krik krik

oh ticket lady, you broke my heart! you yourself are no longer a girl too! I was just being polite you know. :'(

I dodge a BIG bullet.

Something that I really really hate was supposed to happen today but it didn't.

Phewwwh.

Since most of you are my friends, most of you should have known what's that something already. :D Thank god it didn't happen right? right?

Important lesson that I learn from this something is,

'there is no perfect timing. If you have something to say/do, say/do it right NOW. Don't procrastinate because if you do, you may lose the timing you so desperately look for, forever.'

luckily I didn't. :)

Assalamualaikum.

I read Hyori's blog.

ok not. -.-' I look at her pictures while trying slowly, to read what she wrote.

I LOVE hyori. I really do. I love her when she was single, and more when she got married and even more when she started a blog. She's awesome. She's an awesome woman and I really really really wish I can be like her. She's an all rounder. She's funny (who can argue?), kindhearted (jaesuk likes her for a reason. try watching FO), beautiful (especially her eye wrinkle), and confident (again, who can argue?). She excels in everything she does. the way she walks, talks, moves, all are so awesome. omg I sounded sooo gaaaayyyyyy! -.-'

she is my personal. career, life and relationship goal.

now my blogging goal is also Lee Hyori. (bye Vivy :D )

I know it's bad to compare yourself to other woman but we can benchmark right?

My name is Lee Hyori, backward is also Lee Hyori

Assalamualaikum. :)

Extract from The Star Online article titled More Than Beautiful campaign: Redefining true beauty

An interview with Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir

What does the More Than Beautiful campaign mean to you?

This campaign really gives us a chance to talk to young women on what it means to try and achieve your full potential as a human being. Looking good is only an add-on to being a fully developed human being which is someone who is aware of what’s going on around her, believes that she has something to contribute to the world on an equal basis with everyone else.

What makes a woman beautiful?

Same thing that makes a man beautiful: kindness.

Who are your role models?

My role models include my mum who is sweet and kind but also strong and firm, the many people with HIV that I have come to know who continue to work for the good of everyone despite having to live with the virus. And, of course the other three women in this campaign who are both my friends and my heroes.

What message do you want to send about being more than beautiful?

Beauty is a matter of luck and genes and you can’t do anything about it. But you can be a great person, a worthy human being, regardless of the genetic cards you were dealt. Be educated, be aware, be passionate and be caring!

Inspiring! Good job The Body Shop.

Assalamualaikum. :)
“Life is too short to waste any amount of time on wondering what other people think about you. In the first place, if they had better things going on in their lives, they wouldn't have the time to sit around and talk about you. What's important to me is not others' opinions of me, but what's important to me is my opinion of myself.” -  C. JoyBell C.
and I was reminded by

Because I am just like her! (minus being married and having 2 adorable kids) I love fashion, makeup, skincare, bags, heels and PINK as much as she does. the difference is she embrace it while I second guess myself.

Whenever I want to buy something, if I like something, I would second guess myself by saying 'it's too girlish la, too high la, too pink la and maaaaany more though I like it. In the end I end up buying what normal people would buy which is wrong! wrong in soooo many level. I broke womens' shopping code. Weren't we supposed to outshine one another and not be normal? ok tak.

We're women. We're suppose to buy what we love and what makes us feel good no matter what price it is! because we can. Here's to living life to the fullest! :))))

Assalamualaikum. :)

Hi.

look at the time. it must be 4 something right? yes. I couldn't sleep. dunno why. maybe because I think too much.

why men are made?
"Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because God has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means." [Quran:Nisaa 4:34]
Protectors.

Subhanallah. See. Allah trusts you so much to be our guardian. protector. Allah trusts you. You, the intelligent, reasonable, strong you.

Allah has given you intelligent. You have 9 akal, right. whereas we only have 1. you're supposed to be reasonable. The one who makes decision based on akal, not nafsu. As far as I want to win for my fellow sisters, I have to admit, we, women, cannot make decisions. because if we do, it will be based on emotions. That is why, Allah gave men the responsibility to handle talak. Because you're supposed to be reasonable.

Allah has also given you strength. For you to protect us from danger. and to help us with chores :))) .

So,

I am supposed to feel safe when you are around right? right? cause you're my protector. You will not hurt me. humiliate me.

but then why, why do I feel insecure whenever you're around? why?

You beat some of us.
You rape some of us.
You tease me.
You mock me.

because of you, every time I want to walk out from one office to another, I need to take the hot outside road, so that I can avoid a group of you, outside, smoking. just so I won't be tease.

why?

why did you abuse your power?

Imagine, if what happen to those women who have been treated badly by you, happen to your relatives, how do you feel?

happy? sad? angry?

please.

we trust you. Allah trusts you. the world trust you. I trust you.

If you'll just be loyal to your responsibilities, the world, would be so much safer, better place to live.

We believe in you.
