Assalamualaikum

In care you were wondering throughout the series, "Athirah, mana Hallasan?," Well, today is the day. Remember when I told you that we got greedy and were trying to find snow? It was supposed to be snowing that day....but the heck, who are we kidding, it rained since the night before whatever snow left from the past few days had all melted. T_____________T

We tried you know, hiking in the rain, tapi tu lah, kalau setakat bukit pun tak boleh daki apatah lagi gunung. ='( We gave up half way hahahaha. -_______-

Throughout the trip, we did two things:

1. Crashed the passenger side door. There this big deep scratch, the body of the car was even peeled off the size of old Malaysian ringgit 50 cent.
2. Ran over a parking divider.

What? Don't judge, it was awkward driving on different side.

We're aware of situation 1. So when we returned the car, I tried so hard to cover the first body peel. I opened the door so wide (The peel is in between the front and the back door so it's more visible when the door is shut) I successfully blocked the guy from seeing it.

What we didn't notice is the scratch from situation 2. If we had known that there was a deep scratch, we would have done something about it. The guy caught it. So we had to pay a penalty of 100,000won which we thing is super crazy I mean, yes we scratched the car but fixing that scratch won't cost the company RM 350++ to fix, we know the standard price too! Ayu tried to make a fuss but we are just two weak girls, what can we do, we paid it. The only consolation we gave ourselves is, we were actually paying for both the scratches instead of one because to be honest, the second one is worst and sort of cost about RM300. LOL.

What an experience.

With this, I am concluding this Jeju series. <3 Jeju really sets the standard so high for other places now. I don't think I ever feel as calm and contented as I was when I was in Jeju. I really hope we'll met again, in different weather perhaps. Goodbye for now.


JEJU 2019 (WINTER) - DAY 8

Remember the time when I say that I don't do mornings? Well, surprise surprise, I woke Ayu up on that day!!! Woohooo!! Okay to be honest it was because Ayu has been stressing it out for days > "hari last ni memang kene bangun awal tau," "hari sunrise tu kene bangun pukul 4 pagi ok," "hari ni kene tidur awal esok nak bangun pagi," -_____________- Plus, there has been so many hiccups throughout this trip I don't want to spoil the day.

So, woke up early, checked. Reached the place on time, checked. Physically fit for a hill, NOT. T___________T

Did I enjoy the climb? Honestly, no. I was so physically not ready for this I panted the whole time, I sweated buckets, almost threw up, almost gave up, almost fainted #drama T______T . In my mind I was like, "macam mana la Amir boleh dukung Ucop sampai atas?" I could never. Dah la diri sendiri dah berat, nak angkat another human being, no thanks. What's embarrassing was, elderly passed by me like it's nothing. fussh fusshhh fushhhhing they went. And I was just 28, apakah ini?


After the whole thing, we went home for breakfast and passed out till evening. -_____________- so bangun bangun je, it's time for sunset! haha.

That day was also when this happened.


We decided to check out the store on the foothill and because the sales girls were so nice, they gave us lots of samples + lots of sales were going on, we wanted to shop more but our broke selves slapped us in the face. We brainstormed on how can we shop more without spending more money #priorities and then aha! Let's be personal shoppers! This way, we get to be in the store, get to enjoy the free sample andddd we got paid to shop! Anak sapa la bijak sangat ni. hehe.

However, the thing about impromptu PS moment is, customers came in at different time....and since most of them are our close friends, we don't want to reject them by having deadline for orders.....we went back and forth to the store, three times okay! We we're even the last customer of the day....

I really love the whole area, It's been so long I forgot why. If I were to guess, it's the feeling the whole area gave me. I didn't do much, I was just staring/looking at things, with just that, I felt calm and content.






JEJU 2019 (WINTER) - DAY 7 (EASTERN JEJU)

Assalamualaikum

Another bright sunny day! That day we woke up happy because we finally got to experience the real Seogwipo.

Our first stop, Jusangjeolli Cliff for the second time. This time, there was no parking fee because it was Lunar New Year that day. Yeay! Okay not yeay...we've experience this before, visiting Korea during big holiday. The first time around, it was during Chuseok, we all know what happened. Most of the shops were closed, most of the tourist places were packed. T_____________T

Sure enough, this time around it was no different. Every tourist destinations were pack with people! The difference is, in Jeju, the elderly were the one crowding the tourist spots. Unlike Seoul, in Jeju, the elderly is the one who leads the way, they are the one that brought the family out not the other way around. At least from my POV, that's how I see it. I find it sooo cute that most of them are still very lovey dovey and affectionate towards their spouse and children. ❤

Now, before you proceed, I would like to remind you how Jusangjeolli Cliff looks like during bad weather, here.

and this is how it looks like in calmer weather! ❤❤❤ I mean come onnnnnn, the calm blue water, the majestic cliff, I was in awe.

I would just die happy knowing that I've witness something this beautiful. (tst tst things I said for Jeju!)

It doesn't stop here. After that, we went to Oedolgae Rock. There was a small walking trail along the area. I cursed when I saw the long stairs but I am glad I pushed through. I'm glad that I went down there because the view here, it's super screen saver material.

I took below photos guys I took them! Me, the one with zero photography skills whatsoever, even I, the noob-est ever when it comes to photography, I took decent pictures of the rock (tears of joy).

"If you're jealous you lose," but damn it, I was super jealous at people who retire in Jeju. They have this kind of view everyday. That small walking trail I just mentioned, they can jog here every single day tell me if that's not the dream?

I was jealous....for a good minute then I remembered that I am a city girl can't survive without malls -___________- but I might change. Maybe I pull a Hyori and retire somewhere outskirt in Malaysia who knows? :P

This was so good, really really good that later on, we decided to buy more to bring back as souvenir. Unlucky for us, we couldn't find it anywhere else (if we're being fair, we only searched for it in Seongsan area because that's our last stop before we fly back. Not sure about other earlier places we went to). I still managed to bring some home, Emak was unamused. To clarify, she likes it too but not as excited as I was. She was just like, "Ohh ni keledek dengan sira ni. Sedap," as opposed to us "weh tolonglah sedap gila okayyyy kenape sedap sangat macam ni kat mana nak cari lagi?". -_____-

Next in the itinerary is Cheonjiyeon Waterfall. 

One of the famous three waterfalls in Seogwipo. We skipped Cheonjeyeon because well, for bunch of noobs like us, all waterfalls look the same sorry earth! Plus we googled that Cheonjeyeon took a lot more effort to see, after the trails along Oedolgae Rock, our batteries were already flat from all the walking. #weak

Comparing the two that we went, to be honest, I like Jeongbang Waterfall better because we were closer to the waterfall as compared to Cheonjiyeon but Cheonjiyeon has nicer park and is more kids and elderly friendly.

See what I meant. The waterfall is just right there, right besides us. Splashes pun kene. I read that you can even dip your feet if you wanted too. We don't because it was winter, sejuk wehhh.

We left Seogwipo and off we go to Seongsan-ri. The coastal road is beautiful as always...We stopped by several places that we thought was pretty and photogenic.


As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by pretty canola field.


The day ended with us feeling really content and happy. ❤


JEJU 2019 (WINTER) - DAY 6 (SEOGWIPO & SEONGSAN-RI)

To summarise today, it was a day with very poor planning. Our train of thoughts was really questionable. To this date, we still beat ourselves up for this. Let's review what happen shall we.

1. We were greedy. The thing is, when we first decided to go to Jeju, catching snow was never in the itinerary. We were like if it happens it happens. If it didn't, well okay and if I am being really honest, I don't really like snow that much, I can't stand cold weather, I don't like getting myself wet and I've seen how troublesome it is when it's snowing in Jeju (Hyori's B&B). So I don't initially care. Until, Ayu showed me the picture of her colleagues in Jeju, surrounded by snow at Hallasan. Suddenly, from not caring, we were like "OMG WE MUST GO TO HALLASAN WHEN IT'S SNOWING IT'S SO PRETTYYYY FOR INSTAGRAM," #2019problem We planned Hallasan today......we went to Hallasan alright....but there was no snow. Whatever snow left in the area was melted by the rain from the day before. Because we are two greedy women, we decided to revisit Hallasan on the last day, the weather forecast says it would be snowing. 

Again, we have to replanned everything....which I have now realised, we suck at impromptu planning.

2. We wanted to go skincare shopping, multiple brands shopping. We googled and everyone online seems to only suggest Jungang Underground Shopping Center. So we, from Seogwipo, drove to central Jeju, which located exactly opposite from where we were -____________- Plus, that shopping center wasn't even the best place to shop for skincare products. One, it was more expensive (They don't give tax refund for promotion items) the products seems old with dusty shelves and packaging. Honestly speaking, if you're in Seogwipo, there are outlets of multiple brands there! Just shop anywhere, outside of Jungang....but don't wait till when you're in Seongsan-ri. There's Innisfree and maybe Nature Republic only in Seongsan-ri.










3. Dah alang-alang we were at the central, we stopped by the Dokkaebi (Goblin) Road where everything moves uphill when it's a downward slopping hill. You can check the videos on my travelogue. I know it's an optical illusion but man it's so good. It's fascinating. Everything feels uphill I am not kidding.

Weird moment: Although this is a road, since this has become a tourist spot, they have created other road for locals and normal people to use. If you're using this road, it is expected that you should slow down because they are multiple tourists playing on the road itself plus cars sometime stop in the middle of the road to feel the gravity pull. When we were there, there was this one car, speeding and honking! He didn't even slow down okay. Luckily no one was playing on the road if there is, memang dah innalillah dah. ishsshhh.

4. After shopping, weirdly, we decided to go to the northern beach! Why old self why? It's in the other opposite. Told you our train of thoughts were weird. (Disclaimer: I am not complaining about the place, I am complaining about my own decision making) The beach was beautiful.


After yesterday's bad weather, to have clear blue sky, calm sea, it was therapeutic. Nothing can explain how good it was to be surrounded with blue everywhere. The coastal road, weh, seriously, pegilah Jeju weh pegila tengok sendiri please. I can't explain! and I don't have any photography skills either to show you.

5. Before it gets too dark, we decided to go back to Seogwipo. On the way, we decided to stoppped by Camellia Hill (792-0088)


The admission ticket was 8,000won per person. Is it worth it? Honestly speaking, not in winter. I don't know about other seasons but when we go there, it was off season so only several trees was full. Plus I don't like the fact that this place was so instagram/ social media centered. There was multiple place decorated for photo area everything feels staged.

6. Next we went to Yeongmori Coast.


Another screensaver material place guys. By day 5, I think I've run out of adjectives to describe Jeju. Everything was used repetitively but can you blame me, everything was majestic! (yes that's a new word). =P

Ohhhh I forgot to tell you guys about the Seogwipo airbnb owner. Our encounter with Hyunsoo was interesting. First of all, he didn't have phone number for his accomodation so finding it was a little bit tricky although he did provide some guidance. We were slightly annoyed because we have to learn maps haha. So when we arrived, we were already not in a good mood...but the guy was cute. As it turns out, he doesn't know english....but he has been using google translate the whole time which amazed us because he use casual words not the robotic google translate one. Eveything he did was awkward and shy. We asked about washing machine once and then we forget but he kept asking and was adamant to teach us and sort of forced us to use the washing machine haha. He doesn't has a lot of foreign customers at the time so he was using us to practice english. We were happy to help. =)

It rained heavily that morning, I would totally sleep in if I were in Malaysia but no, we're travelling, we can't afford to sleep in :(

We were optimistic. Alah sekejap je ni hujan.

So we head out to what's on the initial itinerary, Jusangjeolli Cliff,


This is what the cliff looks like when it's angry. Still screen saver material but to get this shot, on top of getting wet from the rain, we were also showered by the ocean water when it splashed the rock. -____-" That day, we had planned to visit other waterfalls too so unless we really wanted to get drenched, we postponed the itinerary to later day. 



I tried to embrace life as it is but it's so cold! Seriously, it was so bad that we even received the "bad weather alert text" from the government. (Confession: I know it's dangerous and stuff but I was really excited when we received the message because this is the message that I've seen countless time in Hyori's B&B ðŸ˜œ)

We decided to stay indoor. This is when everything started to go haywire. There was nothing to do indoors! We tried shopping, went into the JTO duty free shop, nope, not working, called Ain for any recommendation, nope to most of her idea, thennnn, she remembered about a banana uyu cafe. Since we're a fan (may or may not drank banana uyu everyday), we went to the cafe! It is called Yellow Cafe (Phone no: 739-1140).

Disclaimer: When I say nothing, not nothing as in nothing. More like nothing that we like or willing to spend money to go in. There were a lot of museums around. The teddy bear one, the Jeju-Play Kpop Museum. It was right thereee, in front of Yellow Cafe, but I am a matured fan, hologram doesn't excite me I want the real person lol.


This is yellow cafe, yup, I know, very jaundice looking and this is after I edited it to tone down the yellow....the original photos were yellow-er 😓 I am not complaining btw. I am just saying, the deco is very fitting to the original focus, banana milk. We ordered the banana milkshake, Latte with banana flavoured milk, and the tiramisu. Our verdict, well, we don't like it I am sorry! This is our own personal preference. We prefer sweet over anything that has a strong taste. This has really strong taste. I guess I'll stick to the traditional banana uyu.

On the second floor, there was KFC, guess who we met,

This is one hardworking grandpa! Hey, you gotta work hard to promote when you're in an island's  famous for it's seafood. You do you uncle, fighting! =P

After that, we decided to just walk around our Airbnb area in Haye Hadong. Coming back to the area, not going to lie, it was scary. The village is on the foothill, very near to the sea, so while driving down, we can see all the lightnings, the big waves, in my heart, I almost don't want to drive down. It looks like something bad is going to happen! Of course I didn't tell Ayu what I was thinking, I am the braver one of the two when it comes to ocean, so I can't make it worst by panicking when she was already shaking!

Of course, nothing bad happen. The rain stopped. We drove out then park at the road side to just walk around the area.

Again, as angry as it looks, the area was still breathtakingly beautiful. We're thankful that God made it rain. If it didn't rain, we might not have the time to just pause and walk around. We would just touch and go the area without really soaking in the beauty. (Things I said about Jeju -_______-" soaking in the beauty what is that pfffts is this even me writing?)

In a totally different tone, this is where I turned my perfectly white shoes, brown. A local was taking her dog out for a walk and I, like any normal days, am afraid of anything with fur, so yup, I ran into mud, twice. -__________-"

We had dinner at Chunsimine (794-4010). The place was packed! We went in right after the opening hour around 5.15pm and it was almost full. After we finished, we realised, there was a really long queue outside already! So if this is in your itinerary, I suggest you go there early.

The food was surprisingly good. The banchans were really nice I ate everything! okay not the soft tofu but I swear I eat everything else. Not in the picture is the main dishes themselves which is a grill fish and a fish stew. I surprisingly like the fish stew. This changes my whole perception towards korean food being blant. I am sorry but I had only Korean food in Malaysia so maybe the cook here has tweak the recipe who knows. =P
